The Amphiareion of Oropos

IMG_0462

Only fifteen minutes north of Athens, the Amphiareion of Oropos lies in a valley set between olive groves and wooded hills. My favourite destination for a morning trip outside the city, it is a stunningly peaceful and beautiful site that few people seem to visit.

It can’t be the cost of the 2 euro entrance ticket that is putting visitors off, I think this ancient sanctuary is just very little known!

Opening hours: Winter: 8:00-15:00     Summer: Mon-Sun 8:00-15:00

Oropos (Prefecture of Attiki)  Telephone: +30 22950 62144, 210-32.13.122, 32.40.563
